Description SHIFT: No Weekends SCHEDULE: Full-time St. David's North Austin Medical Center combines convenience with leading-edge healthcare services. Located at Parmer Lane and Mopac Expressway, the facility has provided comprehensive medical services since 1995. The campus is home to the St. David's Women's Center of Texas (includes a Level III NICU), Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, Certified Stroke Center and rehabilitation services, and Kidney Transplant Center. POSITION SUMMARY : The Director of Nursing Operations has overall accountability for the following areas: Staffing, bed control, nursing productivity, Patient Throughput, House Supervisors, Float Pool, nursing projects, and others as determined by the CNO and ACNO. The Director of Nursing Operations has the responsibility to coordinate/facilitate action steps/direct referrals/etc. of clinical issues and expected outcomes. The Director of Nursing Operations coordinates the needs of the Nursing Administrative office through budget planning and overall supervision of practice and administrative issues. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Accepts primary responsibility for Special Program assignment by CNO and ACNO. Examples include: Regulatory preparation/processes Procedural development assistance with new services. NEC presentations as well as initiates action from issues discovered, independently. When requested, serves as a resource/contact for other areas of the organization Independently seeks opportunity to identify and actively streamline inefficiencies in Nursing areas through action plans and follow-up with Directors of involved areas. Coordinates/prioritizes plans through the CNO and ACNO to assure organizational objectives are in line. Chairs the Nurse Staffing Council Collects data for the staffing indicators and reports at the Nurse Staffing Council Member of Inpatient and Outpatient Satisfaction Team Responsible for the 24 hours operation of staffing/bed control Approves all agency/supplemental staff and bonuses 24 hours a day. Assures that supervisory staff follow correct polices to initiate use of supplemental staff. Prepares capital, revenue, and expense budgets annually Collects data related to nursing and reports data regularly to nursing leadership and senior leadership Facility Administrator Facility Schedule and scheduling excellence Assures nursing departments adhere to budget projections by reviewing daily operating reports Maintains productivity within acceptable benchmarks and provides variance information to CNO and ACNO Reviews and supports Nursing Directors in developing and updating department Facility Position Controls Supports and acts as a resource for Department Directors when the need is identified. Visits department/staff unit meetings as requested/necessary to improve nursing operations maintains/initiates frequent updates to CNO and ACNO routinely and on an as needed basis 24 hours a day Identifies trends, patterns, and issues necessitating follow-up and resolution Provides support to the CNO and ACNO as designated Demonstrate understanding of HCA's and \"Patients First\" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures Leads nursing projects as needed and reports progress through appropriate structure Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Required: Graduate from an accredited Bachelor's Degree nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program; Five years progressive management experience in an acute care hospital. Previous management and nursing operations experience Preferred: Master's Degree LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES : Required: Current Texas RN License . New hires have 90 days from start date to obtain Texas RN License ; BCLS Certification Preferred: ACLS certification
